Rye Pale Ale - "Red Top"
From the Brewmaster:
"ummmm, so let it warm up a little bit, about 3-5 minutes, if you drink it straight out of the fridge it would be too bitter ~ oh and watch out for the carbonation, it somehow makes the head on the beer rise pretty quickly. 5% APV"
Appearance - pours a golden yellow with a bit of haze. lingering head.
Smell - a bit of pine and citrus. a bit more orange than lemon. no yest smell common of most homebrew.
Taste - lots of carbonation, strong pine taste at the beginning that develops into a more round, orange - lemon taste. Leaves your tongue layered with tannins. Great mouthfeel. very drinkable.
I would suggest you bug JTB for a taste, but I am currently enjoying the very last one. You will have a better chance asking the brewer himself for a taste of his creation. If I remember correctly the brewer used a LOT more hops than recipe called for in an effort to make his brew undrinkable to the female portion of the population.
Scotch Ale - "Silver Top"
From the Brewmaster:
"Let the silver top warm up a bit more than the Rye, at least 5 min, the Scotch Ale will taste too alcoholy if you don't let it warm up ~ pour it nice and slow and leave the last bit so you don't get a bunch of yeast. 8% APV"
This beer pours a dark tan and creamy color from it's bottle. Hints of cocoa and sweetness. Full flavored and great mouth-feel. Nectar of the gods! Distinguishable flavors would pair well with steak and burgers.
