Thanksgiving on the Beach

Kevin and I headed to Kure Beach, NC on Thanksgiving Day for a little camping and hang-out time.  Our beer selections for those days included Altwater - Cherry Stout and Anchor Steam - Christmas Ale.  Hope you all enjoy.

Altwater - Cherry Stout
The Cherry Stout tastes exactly as you think it should.  It is not too heavy a beer, nor does it have a significant finish.  The cherry concentrate give it a hint of sweetness without overdoing it.  Decent beer, but nothing super exciting.

Atwater. Cherry Stout. ABV 6.00% IBU 20. Color: Deep Black. Cherry Stout is a blend of 6 malts combined with Montmorency Cherry concentrate from our home state of Michigan. For those who say, “I don't like fruit in my beer,” this one is worth a taste. Just the right blend of ingredients makes this an easy drinking stout.

Anchor Brewing Company - Christmas Ale 2010

WOW.  Great Stuff!  For whatever reason this was a really great beer to take on a camping trip.  I love the shape of Anchor's bottles.  I love their cool labels.  I love the bit of spice that this brew has that sends it from standard to fantastic.  This is the best holiday/Christmas beer I have had in a while.  Too bad they change the recipe every year..

The brewers of Anchor Steam® Beer are proud to announce the release of our thirty-sixth annual Christmas Ale. Every year since 1975 the brewers at Anchor have brewed a distinctive and unique Christmas Ale, which is available from early November to mid-January. The Ale's recipe is different every year—as is the tree on the label—but the intent with which we offer it remains the same: joy and celebration of the newness of life. Since ancient times, trees have symbolized the winter solstice when the earth, with its seasons, appears born anew.

Kevin is pulling some nasty spike balls out of his feet.  Cool trees, right?

Oh yeah. That is a fire on the beach.
