The porter is coming along nicely. I took my first specific gravity reading today, and gave it a little taste.
SG Reading: 1.040
This puts the ABV at 7.2% so far. It's only been 5 days. I'll take another reading on Friday and see what it's up to.
The taste is GOOD. Very smoky (from the copious amounts of chocolate and black malt), chocolate undertone, very earthy finish. The hops give it a good bitter start right when it hits your tongue too. It actually tastes fairly similar to the Flying Dog Porter I was trying to clone. I'm looking forward to seeing how this finishes up.
